Ok, I am not sure what happened with my last post, but it didn't post. Just wanted to let everyone know there will be a Rare Super Blood Moon Total Eclipse tomorrow night. Have a wonderful weekend and Fair Day.
Happy First Day of School 2015! We have had a wonderful first day. I am very blessed to be able to work with such an amazing group of students. We went over many rules and procedures. Students also completed some pirate themed activities. Check back for our "piratey" pictures.
No homework tonight besides enjoying the evening!
I hope everyone had a great weekend. If your Mother's Day plants didn't survive the trip home, please let me know. I am happy to replace them.
You should have received an end of the year list of activities. I apologize that the field trip to the Air Zoo was not included. We will be going on June 8. Please turn money in ASAP.
Also, the Track and Field Day at Camden is quickly approaching. 5th grade will participate on May 20. 4th grade will participate on May 21. My entire class will be going both days, so please send a packed lunch with your child on those days. Water and sunblock is also recommended.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Have a great day!
I just wanted to touch base on a few things.
First, thank you to all who donated bottle and cans. Our class won the extra recess sponsored by sophomore class.
Tomorrow, we will be going to Santa Secret Shop.
We are attempting to "grow" snowflakes. If you child wants to take part and didn't bring a jar in today, he/she can still bring one in tomorrow.
As I am sure you heard, the concert for Thursday was postponed until after break due. I will let you know when I find out the date.
There is A LOT of crud going around. Please remind your child to wash his/her hands, encourage plenty of sleep and hydration.
Have a great afternoon.
I want to wish you a happy and safe holiday. Today we are studying the first Thanksgiving and what the voyage on the Mayflower was like. I have included links under RESOURCES where this information can be seen.
Each year, the Pittsford High School chapter of the National Honor Society takes part in a gift drive for local families. There is a "gift tree" outside the cafeteria where people can take ornaments and purchase the items on the ornaments. I have had several students ask me if they can take part. If you would like to take part, send a note in saying it is ok for your child to take part, and I will let him/her choose an ornament.
If your child does not have ear buds here, please, please, please send in a pair. They are needed for various activities in the lab. Soon we will need them in class also.
Thank you and have a great and safe holiday.
Our class won the canned food drive ice cream party. Woo hoo! Thank you to everyone who donated!
Students need to bring earbuds or headphones if they haven't. There are not enough in the lab. It would just be easier if everyone had a pair of their own. I know some kids had them at the beginning of the year, then took them home. Each student needs a set for school. I know the the Dollar Tree is Jonesville carries them, so you can get a pair for school for a buck.
There really hasn't been a lot of people taking part in the tutoring, so I am going to discontinue it. If there is enough interest, I may start it up again.
Please remember, next Wednesday is a half day, and there isn't school on Thursday or Friday.
Have a wonderful, safe weekend.
We will be sending Holiday Greetings to the wounded. If you have any extra cards you would like to donate, feel free to send them in. I usually have a handful left from the year before, but I know that is not going to be enough.
If you know someone deployed that would like to receive letters and cards from our class, please let me know. Any kind of writing is good practice, and writing with purpose is even better! I know these kids would love to take part in this. I imagine military personnel would also enjoy receiving mail.
We have had a few late assignments between absences and students forgetting to turn their work in. We are catching up on that, and I will post grades tonight. If your child is absent, please stress the importance of completing missed work on time. I will do the same at this end.
Brrrrr....our room fluctuates from hot to cold. Please have your child dress in layers.
Have a great evening!
As you know, today is Veterans' Day. Please take the time to extend your thanks to the men and women that are serving or have served in our country's military and to remember those who have lost their lives serving our country. Our class wrote letters and colored pictures for patients at the VA Hospital in Ann Arbor. We will continue to learn more about Veterans' Day tomorrow.
Students that do not have their basic multiplication facts memorized MUST be practicing nightly. It is very important for them to know their math facts.
We are finishing up the book FOUND. Watching the reactions of the students as we read this is enjoyable. I have the group of students that are not huge science fiction fans, which is okay. I feel their pain. I have the group that loves to read so much they are interested even if science fiction isn't their first choice. Finally, I have the group that is dying to know who Jonah and Chip are. I know we would have finished the book already if it was left up to the last group. No worries. Part of the mystery will be revealed soon.
Have a great evening.
I wasn't at school today but will catch up tomorrow. I just wanted those of you sending students to tutoring tomorrow I do plan on staying after.
Hope everyone had a great day!
