No homework unless students didn't get math or spelling done. Hope to see you at the Prowling!
I'd like to welcome our new student, Stephen Cornwell, to our class. Earlier in the month, Tori Hubbell joined our class. Both are wonderful additions to our room.
Both grades had worksheets in math. Many students completed the worksheets. We are currently working on reading projects to conclude the novel we read. Students created a matching game for science. If each student could bring in a sandwich bag to hold their science game, that would be great!
A note went home with students today discussing events for the rest of the week.
Have a wonderful evening.
If your child comes home talking about Elvis there is a good reason for that. The novel we are currently reading has an Elvis impersonator as one of the characters. For students to understand this character, I showed a couple of short clips of Elvis. It was quite entertaining for both the students and myself. They were so funny. I may have even been singing along, maybe, possibly....
There has been some interest in tutoring. As long as there are students interested, I will stay after school on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays until 3:30. If your child is interested in staying on Tuesday, please send me a note by Monday. Please be aware this is a tutoring session and not a babysitting club. This is not a chance for students to stay after to socialize. If a student chooses to stay, he/she needs to be there to work on an academic subject. I will be leaving at 3:30 and will not assume responsibility for students after this time. If a student chooses to do anything other than study, he/she is choosing to not be invited back. Students do not have to stay every day. I just ask that you let me know in advance if a student is planning on staying. You can simply send a note in with your child.
We are in the middle of math assignments so the only math homework is studying math facts. Students need to read AR for 20 minutes. There is a spelling test tomorrow.
Have a good evening.
Progress reports went home today. Students had quizzes in math so only those with missing work have math homework. Students should also read AR and study math facts.
Some upcoming dates to remember...
Friday, spelling test
Friday, support your team and show your spirit with green and white or maize and blue (preferably green and white - GO SPARTANS!)
Saturday - the big game
Wednesday - Pittsford Prowling
Friday - End of the first marking period
I had some trouble with the grade program and wanted to double check the setting before I printed progress reports. Students will get them tomorrow morning. 5th grade completed their math. 4th grade worked through a concept together. The only homework that was required was AR, study math facts, and a few 4th grade students had to take their exit ticket home to work on.
Enjoy the rest of your evening.
I apologize for not posting last week. Some events took place that threw everything off.
Today students had time in class to work on their math and most completed it. We are taking a look at the scientific method. Both classes have finished the first chapter in social studies. We are halfway through our current novel, Close to Famous. We have started a first draft on a writing assignment.
I will hand out progress reports tomorrow. The end of the marking period is Friday, October 31.
Don't forget the Pittsford Prowling is Wednesday, October 29. Candy can be sent in at any time.
Have a great evening.
I am in the process of updating grades. Students have some papers they are able to fix. I put the original grade in and will change the grades of those students who took advantage of this opportunity on Monday when the papers are turned in.
The only homework students have is AR unless they had classwork to finish or correct.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thank you for helping to make Parent-Teacher conferences a success. If you were unable to make it and want to schedule an appointment, do not hesitate to contact me.
Grades will be updated by end of day tomorrow.
There is no math homework today.
Students do need to read 20 minutes. Reading aloud not only helps fluency, but can increase comprehension also.
Students need 5 AR points by 10/31/14. This is the end of the 1st marking period.
The Prowling will be Wednesday, October 29, 2014. It will run from 6-7. A note was sent home with information today.
Book orders are due Wednesday, October 15, 2014.
Fundraiser orders and money are due Thursday, October 16, 2014. Please make sure order form has your child's name on it and is totalled correctly.
Have a great evening!
Just a little reminder that tomorrow is Parent-Teacher Conferences. If you have not sent back the letter I sent home last week, please contact me. Students do not have school tomorrow
We started a new novel, Close to Famous.
Thank you for helping the 4th grade students collect artifacts. It was fun sharing those. We will continue to check out these items.
We have started a typing program in order to help students learn keyboarding. This can be worked on at home as well as at school. Please keep an eye out for a note that explains the program.
Book orders are going home today. The order and money will be due Tuesday, October 14, 2014.
Have a great afternoon.
I would like to apologize about the date mistake on the letter I sent home yesterday. Conferences are on Wednesday (not Thursday) next week. If you have not sent in your conference slip, please do so.
5th grade has homework. They have been given notes with example problems that go along with their homework. We went over every type of problem together in class. Students were given many chances to ask questions. There is a social studies test tomorrow.
4th grade does not have homework. We are working on rounding.
Have a wonderful evening!
